Hello!
My husband is from Gujarat and I’m Australian. I am wanting to learn Gugarati so I can converse with my husbands family.
The book sounds good! Does it come with a cd or something for pronunciation.
Your video tutorials are they free too?
Is it as easy as watching your blogs?
Regards
Katrina Joshi
Hi Katrina, the book is free to download, you can get it here: http://www.lazybutsmartsinhala.com/join/.
I am working on the audio pronunciation guide for it which I hope to release in a month or so.
Thank you for all of your help. Yes, I would love to hear the words pronounced as I do not learn well from phonetics.
Thanks Ami, happy to hear that. The project got delayed due to a few other priorities but I’m back on it. The recording is complete, I now need to set aside time to edit it. Will keep you posted.
My future wife could benefit from your videos as well, Dilshan – please do keep us posted on your progress. Thanks for taking the time!
You’re very welcome, buddy. Happy to hear that. Tell your future wife that I’m planning on adding a boat load of new content on a week or two. Right now finalizing and testing them out on poor unsuspecting victims.
Thanks Dilshaan I started to pick up few words as I started working here I have to learn hopefully I can someday
You’re welcome, Ranjeet. In my experience, any new language at the beginning looks daunting, but if you can get through that initial “scary” stage, you’ll start to see pattern and words repeating. This, in turn, will do wonders to your confidence. What are the languages you already speak?
Hi,Dilshan, first thanks for your work and all the efforts to make Gujarati learning much easier and fun for foreigners.
And are all your video clips posted on Youtube? I cant open.
And about the audio pronunciation of your book, has it been released? Thanks again.
All the best
Thanks Xun. You used my favorite adjectives “easier” and “fun”. Just what I love to hear…
The pronunciation of the book is not yet released. Had to make some big changes to the whole project that will (I think) greatly improve the final package.
Tell me more about your problem with the videos. What exactly do you mean it doesn’t open (on which device? any error message? screenshots if possible). The more details you can the better chance I have at helping you see my super-duper-amazing videos 🙂
hi dilshan
Thank you for putting this together, it’s great.
There’s one problem I have… I can only listen for short periods, because the background synthesized drum beat gives me a headache, and it’s very distracting.
Is there a way to adjust the sound to have that part go away?
Otherwise it’s great
ps- Phrases for travelers would be much appreciated
How much is… Where is the bathroom… How much does this cost… could I have..,, Please, thank you, excuse me, at Cetera
this are great lessons! Really enjoying them.
could you explain pronunciation
How you have the the words spelled, with the occasional small letter above…. what is that showing?
As a complete beginner, I’m very much enjoying working through your most helpful book and site although, like Claire above, I wish you would get rid of the distracting background beat. It would be great if future videos could cover things like weddings and various festivals as well as eating with a family. When I’m finally able to go back, with your help perhaps my attempts won’t cause quite so much of the usual hilarity.
